Hard Work is Always Rewarded

You have to make an effort if you want to get anything for yourself. You have to work for it. You have to earn it.
It can be true to say that a student who wants to pass the examination must work hard enough to achieve success. He must attend his classes regularly and attend to everything that the teacher says in the classroom. He must be punctual in attending his classes and doing his homework. He must study his lessons without fail from day to day. He must work for the success he desires to have.
In fact, it is clear that we seek fortune in the second period of our life. We have to work for our living. We have to feed and clothe our family. We have to support our parents and look after our relatives. We have to give away some part of our earnings in charity. We cannot do all these things without working hard. We have to take pains if we want to make a success of our life.

The Role of Engineers in Myanmar

Different students have different aims in life. As for me, I have been interested in engineering since I was a secondary student.
The three basic needs of human beings are food, clothing and housing. Everyone needs not only food and clothing but also house to live in. It means that houses are as important to human beings as food or clothing. The ancestors of man had lived in trees, but they needed roofs above their heads as soon as they got down from the trees. Therefore, the role of engineers is just as important as that of the food-growers and the cloth-weavers.
Peasants and cultivators give us our food. Weavers and factory-workes give us our clothing, and builders, architects and engineers give us our houses, buildings, roads and bridges. Now that science is developed, our houses and buildings become taller and more magnificent. Bridges span larger rivers and better roads make communication easier in the country. All this makes for better understanding and greater unity among the various people of the Union of Myanmar.
Hence, I am trying my best in learning engineering courses to become a qualified engineer.

The Musical Concert I Went
The musical concert that I went to see last Monday is Brazilian percussion band called Hot Jive. I hadn’t intended to go but my neighbour offered me a spare ticket for this Brazilian band. As I had nothing planned for the evening, I agreed to go.
As a spectacle, the whole evening was amazing. The player wore the most beautiful, brightly-coloured clothes and the scenery changed as the evening progressed from sunrise, at the start, to sunset at the end of the show. In term of the music, the most memorable part was a fifteen-minute number called Jungle Rhythms, as the name suggests, incorporated lots of animal sounds that were made using drums and many other weird and wonderful instruments.
All in all, since it was a very enjoyable occasion, everyone had a really wonderful time and most people were so relaxed.

Virtue Has Its Own Reward

Virtue is a good moral quality in a person, or the general quality of goodness in people. We can be of service to other people by making ourselves useful to them. We service their wishes by doing all we can to help them.
First and foremost, there must be the will to help. If you are willing to help a person, you will be able to help him. For, where there is a will, there is a way. And if you are able to help him, you will be ready to do so.
The world would be a much happier place to live in if everyone had the spirit of service salesgirls; in people’s shops would be willing, able and ready to serve the needs of their customers. Doctors, engineers, lawyers and all officials, high and low, who have anything to do with the public, would be so helpful and obliging that doing business with bureaucrats and government servants would be a pleasure and a source of happiness.

Do Good, Have Good

If you love somebody with a pure and selfless love, you are bound to get his or her love in return. Your love will most surely be returned. But remember the words “pure and selfless”. Your love must be sincere and you must have not thought of “self” in it. It must not be selfish love which is nothing but “desire”.
Loving a pretty face is not love but desire. You only think of what you can get, but not what you can give. If you love someone with an unselfish love, you only think of giving and giving of yourself without end. Such is the love of your parents for you.
If a human relationship is to be happy and perfect, there must be a balance of give and take between the two parties: parents and children, husband and wife, friend and friend. If the love of one party for the other is sincere and undemanding, it will beget love that is equally sincere and undemanding.

Experience Is The Best Teacher

Experience is the process of getting knowledge from doing, seeing or feeling things. In fact, Knowledge is the general awareness or possession of information, facts, ideas, truths, or principles. Similarly, it is a skill that separates us from other animals, and it is considered in the modern world as an essential tool for everyone.
Experience is a very important and powerful thing in our daily routines. If you want to drive a car, you must have adequate or enough knowledge and experience to do so without running the risk of killing yourself, or other people at any moment. If you want to heal the sick as a medicine man, you must have a sufficient knowledge and experience of human ailments and their cures.
It is therefore clear that experience is the best teacher in our life. If you have only a little knowledge and experience, you will endanger the lives of other people, and you will be a danger to society.

Punctuality Is The Soul Of Business
Our day is divided into twenty-four hours. The day starts when the sun rises and ends when the sun sets. Then the night comes and goes as regularly as the sun sets and rises. Within this pattern of day and night, there is a time for work or play, a time for food or drink, a time for rest or sleep, a time for fun or recreation.
We have to respect the time we set for each of these activities. If we could order our life punctually each day, time would have no need whatever to wait for us on any occasion. In that case we should have a perfectly regulated and well-balanced happy life.
Procrastination is one of the commonest causes of failure of punctuality. You have to do some work to be finished by Monday. You can do it on Saturday and Sunday. You can start working on it on Friday evening when you get back home from work. But do you do it? No, you don’t; you say to yourself, “I’ll do it tomorrow, on Saturday.” You put it off till Saturday for the simple reason that you are too lazy to do it. Such a thing is called procrastination. If you put your work off for one day, then you lose one day out of your time for nothing. If you put it off for one week, then you lose one week. Who has taken it away or stolen it? No one but procrastination.

Character is a good moral quality in a person, or the general quality of goodness in people. We can be of service to other people by making ourselves useful to them. We service their wishes by doing all we can to help them.

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way

Since different people have different desires in life, the dream of youngsters may vary from one another. Actually, I was very enthusiastic in painting.
I had been interested in pictures and colours until the time when I passed the matriculation exam. I spent most of my leisure time by looking at pictures or copying them from books. Fortunately, my parents encouraged me to draw pictures and bought for me some drawing papers, colour pencils and crayons, so I went on drawing. I learned many different kinds of painting and all of them were very interesting. But I was more interested in ‘portrait’. Moreover, I collected a lot of painting tools such as brushes, paints, palettes, easels and canvases. Many years later, when I passed the matriculation exam, I asked myself a question: what should I do?
Eventually, I made the decision to study engineering as my profession and joined Pyay Technological University. I strongly believe that engineers play a crucial role in building modern developed nation. Therefore, I am determined to be a skillful and qualified engineer. Although there may encounter some difficulties, I will try my best for my country.

Rome Was Not Built In a Day
Nearly 3000 years ago, shepherds first built huts on the hills beside the Tiber River in central Italy. These encampments gradually grew and merged to form the city of Rome. Rome became the world’s first city of more than one million people around 100 AD.
People still talk about the glory of Rome. Such a great and glorious city could not be built in one day. It took, not days or months, but many years to build a city, or in fact, to do anything that is really worth doing. This proverb teaches an impatient man to be patient. When we strongly desire to achieve success, we always tend to be impatient we think that success is too slow in coming. At such times we should say to ourselves, “Rome was not built in a day”. We must remember that patience is one of the qualities that we need in anything we do.
Another quality that is equally important is perseverance. We need to work hard and long to do a good job. It is so easy to lose heart and give up before the task is done, we may think that we has done hard enough and long enough. We fell that we cannot go on. Then we must remind ourselves that “Rome was not built in a day”. No success can ever be achieved without patience and perseverance. You cannot become a millionaire overnight.

No Pains, No Gains

This proverb means that if you take no pains, you will make no gains. This saying is so fair and true. It is fair and just because if you take no pains, you have no right to get any gains.

Knowledge is Power
Knowledge is the general awareness or possession of information, facts, ideas, truths, or principles. In fact, it is a skill that separates us from other animals, and it is considered in the modern world as an essential tool for everyone.

It is therefore clear that knowledge is a very important and powerful thing in our daily routines. If you have only a little knowledge, you will endanger the lives of other people, and you will be a danger to society.
Learners of English daily run the risk of misquoting the lines they have learnt simply because of their carelessness and inattention of small, but very important details. For example, it will be wrong to say ‘’little knowledge is dangerous thing’’ instead of saying ‘’A little knowledge is a dangerous thing’’. If you notice the two ways of quoting this proverb correctly, you may reasonably hope to be safe from the danger of having no more than a little knowledge.

Youngsters are Responsible for Preserving Cultural Heritage
In the world of today, many youngsters from different countries are trying to keep abreast of the times. Since they would seriously pay attention to the physical developments, it is possible that the youngsters may neglect to preserve their cultural heritages, or they may totally forget about it. In fact, preserving cultural heritage is a very positive aspect of a country.
From my point of view, the preservation of cultural heritage is equally as important as the industrialization, and so it is one of the most important responsibilities for all citizens, especially for youngsters.
Undoubtedly, it is a good time to preserve the heritage of Myanmar culture handed down from generation to generation. In order to achieve this, youngsters are completely responsible in many ways.
To sum up, it is true to say that if we lose the culture, the tribe will be disappeared. And if the tribe is disappeared, the country will be surrendered. It is therefore clear that without preservation culture and heritage, there is no perpetuation of national sovereignty.

National Unity, Key to Overcoming Difficulties
National unity, which is one of the most important solutions to overcome various difficulties, is truly based on the union spirit.
Union spirit is the spirit that enables any national people from any state or division or race to regard themselves as Myanmar citizen in the Union of Myanmar. Only when people are patriotic, a modern developed democracy nation can be created. Therefore it is very important for everyone of the nation regardless of the place he lives to have strong union spirit. If the union spirit is strong, disintegration of the union will not come out easily. In evidence of this, historian Stephen Ambrose once suggested that American soldiers proved themselves against Hitler's Nazi troops in World War II precisely because they were nurtured in a democratic society. They had initiative because they grew up believing in the worth and weight of their opinions. They were self-reliant and decisive because they grew up making choices, not taking orders.
In fact, what all Myanmar citizens want is to get peace, stability and development of the nation. Nowadays, the government is working hard to materialize the democratization process in compliance with the desire of the entire people. In order to achieve this objective, every citizen throughout Myanmar should try to contribute.

Preservation and Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage and National Character
In the world of today, many countries are trying to keep abreast of the times. Since they would seriously pay attention to the physical developments, it is possible that the nations may neglect to preserve their cultural heritages. As far as I am concerned, the preservation of cultural heritage and national character is equally as important as the industrialization.
Some countries realize that they must try to keep individuality. For example, in Paris it is forbidden to build very tall buildings in the downtown area, as this would ruin the overall appearance of the skyline. However, other countries do not pay attention enough to the preservation of their cultural inheritance. In evidence of this, although Nepal has one of the greatest cultural heritages, its conservation of cultures seems to be poor. It is therefore clear that without preservation culture and heritage, there is no perpetuation of national sovereignty.
Undoubtedly, it is a good time to preserve the heritage of Myanmar culture handed down from generation to generation. Now, the government is working hard to preserve our cultural heritage sites such as Bagan. What is more, in order to safeguard the cultural heritage and national character, arts competitions and traditional music competitions are being held. New generations of artists will work for uplift of national prestige, preservation and safeguarding of cultural heritage and national character. Traditional cultural performing arts competitions play an important role in preserving national character.
To sum up, it is true to say that if we lose the culture, the tribe will be disappeared. And if the tribe is disappeared, the country will be surrendered.

Uplift of Dynamism of Patriotic Spirit
Patriotism teaches people to believe that your country and it is very important for people to feel pride in their nation. Besides, the union spirit which is needed for making a developed country is thoroughly based on patriotism.
In evidence of this, many people from all over the world have noted the importance of patriotism since 1965, Vietnam War. So it is clear that if national solidarity disintegrates, the Union will disintegrate. Even though the British could occupy and enslave Myanmar, they could not destroy the union spirit and the spirit of national solidarity of the Myanmar people. Taking back the independence from the hand of British, our country is improving day by day in all fields.
In fact, what all Myanmar citizens want is to get peace, stability and development of the nation. Nowadays, the government is working hard to materialize the democratization process in compliance with the desire of the entire people. In order to achieve this objective, every citizen throughout Myanmar should try to contribute and all have to work with true patriotic spirit and try to get greater progress tomorrow than today.

Uplift of Health, Fitness and Education Standards of the Entire Nation
What would we be if our education and health care levels are anchored at a lower point, and we have no attempt to uplift the levels? Undoubtedly, if we neglect to uplift our education and health care levels, we will definitely face various terrible problems in future.
In fact, only when citizens are healthy and literate, a modern developed nation can be created. Today in our country, the authorities are seriously trying to uplift health care and education standards. For uplifting of health, the Ministry of Health is actively cooperating with the World Health Organization. They have been trying to open more hospitals, health care centres and specialist hospitals with sufficient modern medical equipments. As regards fitness, Ministry of Sport is giving training to compete athletes until to enter into the competition of Asian level, in addition, the professional football league called Myanmar National League has recently been introduced.
In order to provide a high level of health care, it is essential to bear the qualified medical students. Therefore it is clear that education plays an important role. In the world of today, many countries are elevating education level in order to withstand social change in the long run. Higher education helps us greatly in deciding what is right and what is wrong, what is true and what is false. The degree of radicalism caused by a high level of education can only serve to make the country more adaptable. In education sector, it has opened more colleges and universities for youth. For development of human resources, the latest technology ICT is being used in the sector.
Hence, it can be safely argued that uplifting of health, fitness and education standards of the entire nation is consequential.

Integration of National Solidarity and Perpetuation of Sovereignty
Integration of National Solidarity and Perpetuation of Sovereignty are truly based on the union spirit.

In order to achieve this objective, every citizen throughout Myanmar should try to contribute. Therefore I would like to contribute to build a modern developed nation as far as I can.

The development of a country depends on its human resources
Many people believe that the development of a country truly depends on its human resources. However, some people may think that education gives people unrealistic ambitions; the law of the market place decrees that not everyone can be a managing director.
What is more, education is expensive. Therefore over-education is a waste of time and money. Another argument against education would be that students tend to be a disruptive influence on society.
On the other hand, in spite of the problems of over-education, most countries need a high standard of human resources in order to compete in the world market. Constantly changing technology means that the work-force has to be flexible and receptive to new ideas in order to be of value to employers. It may be true that a greater level of education tends to make people more radical. However, if society is not going to become static, it must be prepared to accept new ideas. Therefore the degree of radicalism caused by a high level of education can only serve to make the country more adaptable and better able to withstand social change in the long run.

Energy resources of Myanmar
Myanmar is regarded internationally as one of the most abundant countries in natural resources. Many authors around the world have described the beauty of nature in their writings.
Myanmar is the sole country that holds a great deal of energy resources. We have plenty of petroleum and natural gas for energy. In evidence of this, Australian scientists once observed here and confirmed that the country is very rich in natural resources. Foreign companies were especially attracted by petroleum. After that, they offered to co-operate with our government and eventually they got agreements and started working in certain parts of our land, particularly in Phaung Pyin, Moan Ywar. In Phaung Pyin Project, the two famous companies were CGG and Yu Kong; the former is Australian and the latter is Korean. Another well-known company is TOTAL which is still running in off-shore in Tanintharye division.
Nowadays, we are exporting natural gas to neighbouring countries as we have plenty of it. In comparison with our neighbouring countries, we have plenty of energy resources such as petroleum, natural gas and hydro power plants. The two famous hydro power plants in our country are Law Pe Ta and Ye` Ywar. Undoubtedly, Myanmar is the most splendid nation in the world.

Energy conservation is more important than electricity generation
Some people believe that energy conservation is more important than electricity generation. I totally agree with this concept.
By 1980 many people had come to recognize that increased energy efficiency could help the world energy balance in the short and middle term, and that productive conservation should be considered as no less an energy alternative than the energy sources themselves. Substantial additional energy savings from conservation measures appear possible without dramatically affecting the way people live.
A number of obstacles stand in the way, however. One major roadblock to productive conservation is its highly fragmented and unglamorous character; it requires hundreds of millions of people to do mundane things such as turning off lights and keeping tires properly inflated.
Consumers of electricity can save money and help protect the environment by eliminating unnecessary use of electricity, such as turning off lights when leaving a room. Other conservation methods include buying and using energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, and using appliances, such as washing machines and dryers, at off-peak production hours when rates are lower.

What I expect to do in this job
As an electrical engineer, what I expect to do in this job is electrical management in many ways. In fact, it is the largest and most diverse field of engineering. It is concerned with the development and design, application, and manufacture of systems and devices.
The field of electric power is concerned with the design and operation of systems for generating, transmitting, and distributing electric power. Engineers in this field have brought about several important developments since the late 1970s. One of these is the ability to transmit power at extremely high voltages in both the direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) modes, reducing power losses proportionately. Another is the real-time control of power generation, transmission, and distribution, using computers to analyze the data fed back from the power system to a central station and thereby optimizing the efficiency of the system while it is in operation.
Myanmar has a great potential for producing hydroelectricity; in 2003 some 37 percent of its electricity (2.7 billion kilowatt-hours) was from hydroelectric plants. The remainder of Myanmar’s electricity is produced by thermal plants using natural gas, diesel fuel, or coal.
Now I am prepared to do in this job. I am also prepared to go where I am sent and do my best in the service of my own country. I shall discharge my duties to the best of my ability.

It is good to have a big family
I certainly agree that it is good to have a big family. In fact, family is basic social group united through bonds of kinship or marriage, present in all societies. Ideally, the family provides its members with protection, companionship, security, and socialization. The structure of the family and the needs that the family fulfills vary from society to society. The nuclear family—two adults and their children—is the main unit in some societies. In others, it is a subordinate part of an extended family, or a big family, which also consists of grandparents and other relatives. A third family unit is the single-parent family, in which children live with an unmarried, divorced, or widowed mother or father.
In prehistoric hunting and gathering societies, two or three nuclear families, usually linked through bonds of kinship, banded together for part of the year but dispersed into separate nuclear units in those seasons when food was scarce. The family was an economic unit; men hunted, while women gathered and prepared food and tended children.
Historical studies have shown that family structure has been less changed by urbanization and industrialization than was once supposed. The nuclear family was the most prevalent preindustrial unit and is still the basic unit of social organization. The modern family differs from earlier traditional forms, however, in its functions, composition, and life cycle and in the roles of husbands and wives.

Electricity plays a more important role than fossil fuels
Some people may think that electricity is one of the most influential necessities in our daily life and it plays a more important role than fossil fuels. As far as I am concerned, it is an overgeneralization.
Electricity is an extremely versatile form of energy. It can be generated in many ways and from many different sources. It can be sent almost instantaneously over long distances. Electricity can also be converted efficiently into other forms of energy, and it can be stored. Because of this versatility, electricity plays a part in nearly every aspect of modern technology. Electricity provides light, heat, and mechanical power. It makes telephones, computers, televisions, and countless other necessities and luxuries possible. Therefore, it is clear that electricity plays an important role in our modern life. However, is it more important than fossil fuels?
The majority of fossil fuels are used in the transportation, manufacturing, residential heating, and electric-power generation industries. Crude petroleum is refined into gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel, which power the world’s transportation system. Coal is the fuel most commonly burned to generate electric power, and natural gas is used primarily in commercial and residential buildings for heating water and air, for air conditioning, and as fuel for stoves and other heating appliances.
To sum up, it can be safely argued that fossil fuels are equally as important as electricity and both of them are the two necessities of today.

What I will do after this examination
I have a plan for travelling after this examination. I am going to Pyin Oo Lwin with my family.
Pyin Oo Lwin is a hill station and it is 42 miles from Mandalay. The sight of the blue mountains and green valleys along the way is pleasant. It is a quiet town with beautiful gardens. The streets are clean and less crowded. The main attraction of Pyin Oo Lwin is the famous National Kandawgyi Garden. There, we can see real natural beauty and different varieties of the most beautiful and colourful flowers in Myanmar. The Pwe Kauk Water Fall is the place where families have their meals enjoying the attractive views. We can go on to visit the Maha Arnthtoo Kantha Pagoda and pay homage to the Buddha image. Many visitors take photographs at the Peit Chin Hmyaung Cave which is the pride and wonder of the town.
The cool breeze and the beautiful landscape attract many holiday-makers. That is why Pyin Oo Lwin is the place I enjoy visiting.
